Beach activities

Cavelossim beach, just 500m from the Villa, is a wide and almost 25km long unbroken stretch of sand, and the sea has warm tropical waters.

Laze around on sunbeds, and enjoy delicious food and cool drinks at beach shacks.

You and your children can enjoy cycling on the beach, swimming or splashing about in the warm waters, water sports like parasailing, jet skiing and banana boat rides, or simply playing in the sand.

Dolphin and sunset cruises

Cavelossim is famous for its dolphin spotting expeditions. Dolphin cruises in the sea are fun and you can be sure to spot a dolphin or two cruising along your boat. If you are lucky enough, they can come real close and allow you to touch them.

One can also go on a sunset cruise on the Sal River, heading out to the sea. Feel the magic take over as you feel completely at peace with yourself when you see the sun set at a distance and the water gets painted golden orange. Top off with dinner and live music.

Eating out

Eating out

During the tourist season from November to April, there are several restaurants within a 5 to 10-minute walking radius, many beach shacks serving fresh and absolutely delicious food, and some highly recommended restaurants like Fisherman’s Wharf within a 2 kilometer radius. They all provide an excellent selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine – Goan, North Indian, South Indian and Continental.

The Radisson Blu Hotel is almost right outside the gates of Luisa by the Sea and the starred hotels The Leela and the Holiday Inn are just 2 kilometres away.

We would particularly recommend:

  • Silver Sands Beach Shack: Open for Breakfast and Lunch, sometimes closed for dinner. Order any seafood preparation, but their whole Tandoori Fish is amazing!

  • Fisherman’s Wharf (around 2 kilometres away, opposite the Holiday Inn). Must try Tandoori Fish Tikka, Sea Devil and Mint Paratha).

  • Joe’s River Cove (around 3 kilometres away, near the bridge from Cavelossim village to Assolna village over the river Sal). Very popular with locals and tourists alike. Must try Prawn Curry and Rice, Chicken Malai Tikka, Butter Garlic Naan.

  • Mike’s (right next door to Luisa by the Sea).

  • Robin’s Ark is a multicuisine restaurant right next to K4 Supermarket, just outside Luisa by the Sea.

If you are in the mood go a longer distance, you could also try:

  • Zeebop by the Sea (20km away at Utorda Beach, on the way to the airport). Great food, can order anything.

  • Peppers: If you go to Margao, you must eat at Peppers. Order Chonak Fish Curry and Recheado Masala Fried Prawns - both these are probably the best I've ever had. Chonak fish is Giant Sea Perch. At Peppers, you can order almost anything and it is likely to be top-notch.

  • Martin's Corner (18km away, at Betalbatim, on the way to the airport). Very popular with locals and tourists alike. Goan and continental are both good, but I've found the quality a bit inconsistent. The same fish or chicken dish, which is great one day, could be overcooked the next.

Shopping

Buying groceries

K4 is a supermarket for your daily needs, located among the shops just outside the Luisa by the Sea residential area. Turn left into the corridor at the main gate, and walk less than a minute.

D'Mello's is another supermarket less than a four-minute walk if you turn right at the main gate.
Just opposite D'Mello’s, a small shack sells fresh fruits and vegetables.

Shopping

There are several shops and shacks for groceries, medicines, liquor, clothes, trinkets, souvenirs, and whatever else a person would normally need on a holiday, all within a five-minute stroll. Several tailors provide material and stitching for Indian and Western outfits delivered at short notice.

Getting around

Getting around

Cycles and scooters are available for hire from many sources just outside Luisa by the Sea.

Taxis are available at the gate of Luisa by the Sea to take you all over Goa.

And if you want to experience the local bus, it operates at 30-minute intervals just outside the complex main gate from around 7am to around 5pm. These buses run up to the Kadamba Bus Station in Margao, from where you could take another bus to several other locations, including long distance.

And, of course, you could always use the private taxi of our recommended driver Moses.
